Iris Gilley

December 7, 1932 - January 31, 2025

In loving memory ~

Iris Mary Gilley passed away peacefully at her home, on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the age of 92 years. Iris was born on December 7, 1932 at Maidstone, Saskatchewan to Harvey and Laura Gilley.

Iris was educated at Maidstone, and North Battleford (Convent of the Child Jesus), the University of Saskatchewan (B.A. 1954), (B. Ed. 1963), (M.A. 1967), and the University of Alberta (B.L.S. 1972). Iris taught at North Battleford, Lloydminster, Edmonton and Red Deer. Iris will be lovingly remembered by her four nieces, Joan (Robin) Ifield, Louise Tesch, and Frances Smith, all of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Michele LePage of Cranbrook, British Columbia; and her three nephews, Brian, and Marty (Cindy) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Rick (Elizabeth) of Sooke, British Columbia, along with their families. She will also be sadly missed by her cousins and their families in Canada and the United States.

Iris was predeceased by her father, (1956); her mother, (1970), her brother, Stanley (2006) and her nephew, Garry (2019).

Iris's family would like offer their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Red Deer Comfort Keepers, Alberta Health Services, Blue Cross, Lacombe Hospital Restorative Care, Bremner Home Care, Red Deer, Ebenezer Medical Clinic, Iris's Church family, her UAC family, her neighbours and numerous friends, Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, and to all the Doctors and Nurses who provided Iris with such an exceptional level of care and loving support. We are beyond grateful to all of you.

Prayers will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 - 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Iris's honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca.
