BIGNELL Irvin Wayne 1929 - 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce, to all who knew him that Wayne Bignell passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Marguerite and his six children: Irvin (Mickey) of Fox Creek, Lynette (Tom) of Calgary, Patrick (Deb) of Airdrie, Les (Cindy) of Carstairs, Della (Dave) of Airdrie, and Glen (Coralea) of Airdrie. His memory will be forever cherished by his nineteen grandchildren, and his two great grandchildren as well as his extended family and friends. Wayne was predeceased by his father Irvin and mother Mae, his brother Bert, sister-in-law Mary Jean, Brother-in-law Evan and his Step father Cliff, and son-in-law Bob. Wayne was born and raised in Big Valley and married Marguerite June 2, 1955. They moved from Big Valley to Devon in 1964 where he worked at the Golden Spike and Leduc Gas Conservation Plant. They moved to Calgary in 1970 where he worked at Quirk Creek Gas Plant and then transferred to Red Deer in 1982 where he worked at the Joffre Plant. Wayne worked many gratifying years at Imperial Oil from where he retired in 1986 and he maintained a number of friendships with his co-workers following retirement. Wayne was an avid golfer and curler and he loved camping and fishing. He enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, square dancing and playing games with his loving family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects to the late Wayne Bignell may do so on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, AB. A Funeral Mass for the late Wayne Bignell will be held Thursday, October 1st, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer with Father Victor O. Eze, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #101, 5208 - 53 Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4N 5K2 or the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Bag 5030, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 6R2.
