Iva Cooper passed away peacefully on May 27, 2014 at the age of 92 years at St. Mary’s Health Care Centre, Trochu, Alberta. Iva was born at Carleton Place, Ontario to James and Sarah Shail on March 21, 1922. Iva joined the air force in 1942 and trained as a wireless operator. She met her future husband Albert Cooper, while at Fort MacLeod where they were both stationed. Iva and Albert were married at Carleton Place in 1946, returning to Pine Lake, AB where they farmed for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ancion of Pine Lake, Anne (Greg) Frolek of Three Hills and son Alan (Erlene) Cooper of Elnora; grandsons Terry Ancion and Monte (Connie) Cooper; granddaughters Leslie (Keith) Shand, Amanda (Bob) Reitenbach and Marianne (Leith) Cox; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Betty Rosengren; a nephew and five nieces in Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Albert in 2010. Her parents, a brother and a sister, her sons-in-law Walter Meding in 1981 and Lloyd Ancion in 2007, two grandsons Michael Meding in 1971 and Mark Ancion in 2003. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
