It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacques Pierre Hachey on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the age of 70 years. Jacques or "UJ" (Uncle Jacques) as he was known to his family, was truly a character like no other. He lived with his brother's family in Red Deer for the past twenty-one years and drove a taxi in Red Deer. Generally speaking, if you were a passenger in Jacques' cab, you were not only transported to your destination, but you were also entertained. He had a quick wit and the gift of conversation and humour. He certainly loved to tell a joke, and he had quite a repertoire. He lived with his brother, Dan and sister-in-law, Cory and their three children, Danielle (Paul), Rebecca (Garret), and Spencer and saw them through from elementary school to university graduations, travels and weddings. His most recent highlight was the introduction of two great nephews, Wallace and Mossimo, who brought a light to his eye that was undeniable. He was a very kind and generous man who asked very little of anyone, and moved through his life marching to the beat of his own drum. He will be greatly missed. Jacques will be lovingly remembered by his family and he leaves behind three sisters, Rose-Marie Bullis (Richard Wan), Huguette (Douglas) Fox, Suzanne (John) Gordon, two brothers, Guy (Lia) Hachey, Daniel (Cory) Hachey and a beautiful extended group of nieces and nephews, who will remember him with a big smile. Jacques liked to slip in and out quietly, and has once again, done exactly that. There will not be a formal service at this time - His family will celebrate him with joyful remembrance, when they can gather together. Until then, we will all hold him in our hearts.
