JACQUOT Mr. Pascal "Jean" Auguste Jacquot beloved father, grandfather and brother passed away on April 15th at the age of 78 years. Pascal was predeceased by his loving wife Janet in 2000, his parents Pierre and Margerite Jacquot, and his brother, Jean Pierre Jacquot. He is survived by his children, Gwen Jacquot of New Westminster, B.C. and Carolyn Wing (Bob) of Red Deer; his grandchildren, Cyrus Dastouri, Serenna Dastouri, Darius Dastouri, Peter “Robbie” Wing and Miriam Wing; siblings in France, Annie Jacquot, Phillipe Jacquot (Christine), Etienne Jacquot (Christian), and Francoise Riss-Jacquot; in-laws, Peggy Gilbert (Morris), Gwen McWhinnie (Alan), and Alan Parry (Diane). Pascal was born in Le Thillot, Vosges, France in 1930. His town was occupied by the Nazis during WW II and life was very difficult. After time in the French Merchant Marine and French Navy, Pascal immigrated to Canada in the early 1950's. He worked as a lumberjack on the Queen Charlotte Islands and in construction in British Columbia and Alberta. Pascal married Janet Rose Parry of Gadsby/Stettler in 1956. During the early years of their marriage Pascal worked in construction in Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan and Cold Lake, settling in Stettler in1958. Pascal started out working for Avery Construction until he started his own business, Jacquot Construction, in 1963. Pascal has built many homes in Stettler and area and earned himself a reputation for quality construction. In the 1990's Pascal worked for the Country of Stettler No 6, working in the school shop making repairs and building items for the schools until his retirement in 1995. Pascal was always a voracious reader, but upon retirement he also became a serious hunter and fisherman. Pascal continued to enjoy working on projects in his shop and helping out friends and neighbors with repairs to their homes. He also became a serious berry grower with much of his yard producing raspberries, Saskatoons, and currents. The last year of his life was a valiant fight against cancer. Thank you to the care givers and doctors at the Red Deer Cancer Centre and the Palliative Care Unit. The family is also very appreciative of the thoughtful support of friends, neighbors, extended family and Balmoral Bible Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 27 at 1:00 P.M. at Brennen Funeral Home in Stettler.
