MARTENS Jake Martens, of Red Deer, unexpectedly passed away from a sudden illness on January 14, 2008 at the age of 69. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Marlene, his daughter Gina (Casey) and his son, Sheldon. Jake is also survived by his three sisters and four brothers, as well as his six grandchildren. Jake loved "life in the patch", and being an entrepreneur, spending 50 years in the oil industry before semi-retiring to pursue new challenges in Ecuador. A Memorial Service will be held at the North Hill Inn at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2008.
