James CLARKIN

CLARKIN James James passed away peacefully on July 6, 2009 in the Rocky Mountain General Hospital at the age of 89 years with family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Marguerite Clarkin (nee Phillion), his children Jerry (Margorie) of ValleyView, Judy of Leslieville, Joe (Linda) of Sylvan Lake, Joan (Rick) of Leslieville, John (Lori) of Red Deer, Jeff of Edmonton. Also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. James was born September 29, 1919 at Markerville, Alberta. He later became enrolled in Active Services in the Canadian Armed Forces June 11, 1941 at Camrose, Alberta until his honorable discharge as a private on January 26, 1946 at Calgary, Alberta. His Theatres of Service were Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe. His medal's and decorations included the 1935-1945 star, France and Germany star, Defense medal, Canadian volunteer service medal with clasp and war medal 1939-1945. This was a proud accomplishment of his to have served his country. He married Marguerite Clarkin (nee Phillion) July 15, 1947. He was an avid out doors man he enjoyed camping, quadding, fishing, farming anything that kept him busy. He also enjoyed tinkering with old cars, tractors, trucks or just puttering in the yard. He enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscing of events and occurrences of his younger years. He loved his family dearly as they did him. A Funeral Service for the late James will be held at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Saturday July 11, 2009 at 11:00am with Laurie Wade officiating. Interment followed at Sylvan Lake Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made in James's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
