On Feb. 3, 2021, James Masson died peacefully at home in Red Deer at the age of 92.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Leona; children: Sandra St. Denis (Dave), Jean Ashdown (Chris), Elaine Campbell (Shane), Adele Arnold (Tom Gregory), Don Masson (Karmen); son-in-law, Bob Desruisseaux; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara; brothers, Ron, Alan and Angus; and his parents, John and Jemima.
Born in Lethbridge, he and Leona raised their family in Red Deer and Sherwood Park. He worked primarily in municipal government at the County of Red Deer, County of Strathcona and AUMA. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed travel and history. Jim was always appreciated for his kindness and generosity - at home, church, work and in the community.
Due to Covid -19 restrictions, a private Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 followed by a private Funeral Mass at 1 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2021, in Red Deer. The Prayer Vigil will be livestreamed.
