CRUICKSHANK James Robert "Bob" 1918 - 2009 James Robert "Bob" Cruickshank of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rosefield Care Centre in Innisfail, AB on August 31st, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Bob will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Mona Cruickshank of Red Deer, AB; sons, Rodney (Lillian) Cruickshank of Drayton Valley, AB, Gary (Liz) Cruickshank of Blackfalds, AB, and David (Karen) Cruickshank of Red Deer, AB; daughter, Glenda (Mark) Stoller of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren, Kalvin (Simoi) Cruickshank, Julie (Darris) Schlosser, Scott Cruickshank and Clinton Cruickshank; brother Don (Myrna) Cruickshank of Penhold, AB; sisters, Phyllis (Lawrence) Johnson of Red Deer, AB and Doris Cybulski of Regina, SK as well as many dear friends made throughout the years. Bob was predeceased by his parents, James and Bella Cruickshank and sisters Marg and Isabel. Bob served in the army overseas in WWII from 1942 to 1945 and upon returning home, he married Mona Steele on April 10, 1946. He pursued his passion of farming in the Clearview Community and experienced many changes to the Red Deer area over his lifetime but remained unchanged in his devotion to his wife and family. Bob was actively involved in his community, his church and in organizations such as AOTS, Red Deer Fair & Exhibition, Red Deer Curling Club. He was also involved in 4-H for many years and enjoyed raising cattle and meeting Don at the auction mart on Thursdays. Over the years he served diligently and with pride in leadership roles within these organizations. He was an avid sports fan and held season tickets to the Red Deer Rebels and was a competitive curler. Visitation will take place for family and friends on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 67 Street, Red Deer). A Funeral Service for the late Bob Cruickshank will be held on Friday, September 4th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Gaetz United Church (4758 Ross Street, Red Deer, AB). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to a charity of one's choice.
