James (Jim) Wesley

Dec. 4, 1931 - Eckville, AB

Aug. 17, 2014 - Calgary, AB

Jim McNeil of Calgary passed away from abdominal lymphoma on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Jim was the son of Wesley and Helen (nee Hainsworth) McNeil and attended both Shady Lane and Bluebell Schools while his parents farmed first in the Withrow area and then south of Eckville. After marrying Elizebeth (Betty) Whillier in 1957, Jim trained as an automotive technician and apprenticed at Eckville Motors while living on the family farm. In 1964 he moved his family to Wetaskiwin, AB and worked for Wetaskiwin Motors. After retiring he returned to his roots and worked on farms. He lived in Wetaskiwin until 1998 when Betty passed away from a brain hemorrhage. At that point he moved to Eckville to be close to his mother and sister. As he started dating again after so many years of marriage he found that there is nothing like family ties and began to court Dorothy Honeysett (nee Whillier). In 2000 Jim moved to Ponoka to live with Dorothy and her mother, Mary Whillier. In August of 2005 Jim and Dorothy moved to Calgary where she still resides. He leaves behind his companion Dorothy Honeysett; his son Mitch; his two daughters, Catherine (Jon Morris) and Colleen (Reg Lillico); three grandchildren, Orysha and Brenden McNeil and Haley Morris; and his sister Avril (Glen) Rangen. Jim was predeceased by his wife of forty years, Betty, and his sister, Isabel Martin. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary) on Thursday, August, 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
