Mr. James 'Jim' Ernest Marchand of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the age of 77 years. Jim, as he was known by most, was born in Galahad, Alberta on November 2, 1945. He spent his youth on the family farm in Forestburg, Alberta.
In 1969, while working in Grimshaw, Alberta, he met Elizabeth Husch, whom he married in 1970. Shortly thereafter, he accepted a job with AGT, which required him to relocate to Calgary.
After a few months apart, Elizabeth joined him in Calgary and they welcomed their son, Bill later that year. In 1973, they welcomed their daughter, Kimberley, and the family moved to Red Deer a few months later.
Jim spent the remainder of his working career with AGT and Telus, becoming a certified Journeyman Electrician, prior to his retirement in 1994. His remaining time in Red Deer was spent visiting with friends that he made over his many years, as well as finding the best deals within all of the grocery stores in the area (if you knew Jim, then you knew what was on sale and where).
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his son, Bill (Jeanette), his daughter, Kimberley, his grandchildren, Alexi and Ryder and his nephew, Lance (Priscilla) Kirkham.
He was predeceased by his mother, Joyce in 1960, his father, Ernest in 1990 and his elder sister, Helen in 2020.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at the Red Deer Legion Branch 35, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
