Bob was born in Camrose, AB and was raised in Wetaskawin before moving to Red Deer in 1951 where he joined his father Henry as partner in their General Motors dealership Vellner Motors. Bob was an astute and highly respected businessman throughout his life revelling in identifying and overcoming the various challenges presented by the variety of businesses he was involved in. He especially loved the RV business which he entered into in 1957 and continues to be a Vellner family business today.

His zest for adventure and the great outdoors took him on many travels around the world and fuelled his passion for RV’ing and sailing. Bob loved hunting and was an avid fisherman who visited the West Coast on many fishing expeditions. He was always drawn to the water beginning in his youth at Mameo Beach, then Sylvan Lake. He made many road trips to Mexico with his family in tow, before residing part time in Kelowna and later Sicamous, BC, where he became involved in the Houseboat, marina and marine services industry.
