In Loving Memory ~
Janet passed away with family at her side on January 6, 2023.
She was predeceased by her brother Paul (Clare) and is survived by her sister Roberta Cronquist (Gerald) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was born in Calgary, Alberta to Eggert and Janet Asmundson. She lived with her family in Olds, Alberta from 1941 to 1970 and Sylvan Lake, Alberta from 1970 to 2023. Janet wintered in Hawaii with her mother (fondly known at the beach as "the two Janets") for more than 25 years and thought of it as her second home.
In her younger years, Janet was always active and participated in a variety of sports. She also loved music, especially Elvis, and dancing. On summer evenings you would find her at Sylvan Lake's Varsity Hall dancing to the Paul Perry Orchestra.
In her later years, Janet lived in the Bethany Sylvan Lake senior's home. She was a "people person" and was the greeter at the front door. She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed socializing and exchanging jokes with those coming and going. Janet will be remembered as a strong-willed, positive person who loved life.
Janet's family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the Sylvan Lake Bethany staff and volunteers for their amazing care and positive impact on Janet's life.
A private Celebration of Life for Janet will be held this summer.
