SHMYR Janice Gail Shmyr of Lake Newell Resort, Alberta passed away at her home on May 25th, 2008 at the age of 48 years. Born in Edmonton on June 1st, 1959 Janice received her education in Peace River and more recently by correspondence through Athabasca University. She married Ernie Shmyr on August 4th, 1979 in Peace River, Alberta then moving to Red Deer, where they raised their family. Janice worked extensively administrating for the North Central Referees Council until moving to Lake Newell Resort in 2004. There she was employed with the Marina and tended meticulously to their house and yard. Janice believed her family was the most important thing in the world and loved them with all her heart. She will be remembered for her wonderful unique personality, her bright smile and amazing laugh, love of the beach and outdoors. Janice was predeceased by her older brother, Michael Morgan in 1995. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of nearly 30 years, Ernie; daughters, Jennifer of Saskatoon and Kristin of Medicine Hat; parents, Patricia and Leroy Morgan of Kelowna; grandmother Elsie Smith of Penticton, B.C.; sister Brenda Collette of Fort McMurray; numerous other family members and her furry child, Aaliyah (cat). Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from Smith Memorial Chapel, 204-3rd Avenue West, Brooks, Alberta. Pastor Bill Martin officiating.
