JARMOLUK

September 13, 2006

JARMOLUK Nov. 10, 1926 - Sept. 9, 2006 Irene Jarmoluk of Lacombe is now at peace and resting in the arms of the Lord. After several years of failing health, she left this world early in the morning on Saturday, September 9, 2006 to join her husband, Leon, son Grant and older sister, Rose in Heaven. Born Irene Kaminski, she grew up in Edmonton in a close-knit, loving family of six children. She completed her high school education in Edmonton, then trained at the Misericordia Hospital to fulfill her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Irene started her 25 year nursing career in Rimbey, where she met (the love of her life) Leon Jarmoluk. They married and moved to Calgary. Irene worked at the Holy Cross Hospital. In 1957 they moved to Lacombe. Irene was a well liked, respected nurse at the Lacombe Hospital and at the Nursing Home for many years. She changed careers in 1977 to help Leon run and manage Sterling Photo Studios in Stettler for several years, but Irene remained a nurse at heart. She moved back to Lacombe in about 1990 to spend her retirement years with close friends and in the community she was such a part of. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Irene was an active member of the Lacombe Lioness Club, the IODE, the Kozy Korner and the Catholic Women’s League of St. Stephens Perish. She was camp nurse at Our Lady of Victory Camp for several summers. Irene enjoyed playing bridge, singing, dancing, getting dressed up in style, traveling and going for walks. She liked to spend time at the families small cabin at Gull Lake, because she loved sunshine and fresh air. Predeceased by her husband Leon, sister, Rose and son Grant she leaves to mourn her passing and remember her kind gentle spirit are her brothers Ted, Ray and Don, her sister Marcia, daughter Christine (Gerry), son Michael, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Helen of Rimbey, sisters-in-law Helena and Lodzia of South Africa, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral services will be held from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Lacombe on Wednesday September 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery. If friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta #101, 5208 - 53 Ave. Red Deer, AB. T4N 5K2.
