Jean WILLIAMS

WILLIAMS Jean Arthur Aitken Williams was born near Airth, Scotland on November 26, 1919 and passed away November 4, 2008 in Red Deer Alberta at 88 years of age. She grew up in Scotland and met her husband Lawrence Williams there during the war. They were married on December 23 1944. Jean came to Canada as a War Bride in March of 1946 where she and Lawrence settled in Clive. She was active as musical director of Clive United Church for over 60 years and also was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Clive United Church Women, Eastern Star and War Brides. The main focus in Jean's life was her family and her music. Jean is survived and will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren: Shona and Henry Sponholz, Apryl Sponholz, Tyler Sponholz and Andrea Ruskin, Michael Sponholz, Amity Sponholz, Jim Williams, Aaron Williams and Lauren Birks, Aaron's mother Nancy Archibald, Michelle and Scott Cleverely, Shawn and Kathy Moore, Jaymie and Rob van der Vlugt, Moira and Tim Ellen, Scott Ellen, Spencer Ellen, Margaret and Tom Reynolds, Sarah Williams, Taylor Reynolds, Shae Reynolds, Bill and Rose Williams, Heather Williams, Matthew Williams, Andrew Williams. She was thrilled to be great granny Jean to: Calee van der Vlugt, Jonathan Sponholz-Ruskin, Teanna, Camryn and Nolan Cleverley and Alexa Moore. Jean is also survived by: her sister-in-law Dorothy Aitken, her nieces Elspeth and Sheila, nephew Francis, special cousin Donald and their families in Scotland and England; and Jenny Mikhareva as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. Jean was pre- deceased by her husband Lawrence in 1986, her parents and her brother Matthew. A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at the St. Andrew's United Church, 5226 51 Avenue, Lacombe Alberta, on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 1:00pm.
