Jeannette (Jean)

May 26, 1935 - Sept. 18, 2014

On September 18, 2014 Jean passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 79 with her family at her side. Jean was born May 26, 1954 in Serath, SK. to Joseph and Marian Roske. She was predeceased by her son Tom in 2010. Left to cherish Jean's memory is her husband of 53 years Art, her daughters Christine (Larry) Dwyer, Shelley (Paul) Berrigan and grandchildren, Stephanie, Nikki, Danielle, AJ, Ryan, Liam and Caeley. Jean joined the Air Force in 1954 and where she met her husband Art in Metz, France. They married September 24, 1960 in Regina, SK and were stationed in North Bay, ON where they started their family they then moved to Ottawa, Calgary and settled in Red Deer in 1970. There she worked for Safeway for many years. She was an active member of the Red Deer Pottery Club, The Red Deer Arts Club, The Red Deer Garden Club and spent many Wednesday mornings gardening in the Wild Flower gardens at Kerry Wood Nature Centre and she was very active in her community. Jean and Art spent many days travelling wherever their whim sent them. They had just returned from a 19 day Alaskan bus tour and were planning their next trip to Jamaica. She had a way to make everyone feel welcome and that they were special... she had a twinkle in her eye and a bounce in her step and will be dearly missed by her family, friends and everyone that met her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kerry Wood Nature Centre and The Heart and Stroke Foundation Funeral services will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
