November 2, 1942 - June 30, 2018
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jerry Ronald Victor (Lunyk). He passed away peacefully in his sleep in Lacombe, Alberta on Saturday June 30th at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife, Charlotte of 40 years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Shelley Lunyk of Kingston, ON, Lori (Craig) Harmaty of Long Sault, ON, his sister Olga (Bill) Howieson, and brother Lionel. He also leaves behind his step daughter Charlene (Terry) Young, 9 grandkids, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Bill.
Jerry was born on November 2, 1942 to his parents Mike and Marie Lunyk in Fort William, Ontario. He grew up in Rainy River, ON. When he was 16 he apprenticed with the Canadian Army and later served in the Signal Corps for 23 years. He married Charlotte on October 8, 1977 in Great Falls, MT. They later settled in Lacombe Alberta in 1991 after living in many countries and enjoyed travelling the world together.
Jerry was a fun loving person who loved to tell jokes. He loved all sports and played in many. He especially loved to watch his grandkids play hockey. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpop (PopPop), and great grandfather. He served in many roles with the Lions Club in Lacombe and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 45 years. His dedication he put into everything in life including his family will be missed forever.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ron Keller, all the nurses and aides at the Long Term Care facility at the Lacombe Hospital, and his pastor Mark Running.
A celebration of life will be held at the Lacombe Pentecostal Church on Monday July 9, 2018 at 2:00pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Alberta Parkinson's Society. Condolences may be made by visiting www.wilsonsfuneralchapel.ca
