Joe Maki passed away suddenly on Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 70 years. Joe was born on November 17, 1941 in Eckville, Alberta. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Jean; his son Steven and LeaAnn Maki and grandsons Brendan, Derek, and Chris; and his daughter Lori and Jim Smith and granddaughters Madison, Teryn, and Janine. Joe is also survived by his twin sister Josie Hunter (John Ahorner) and his brother Ken Maki and extended family. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Waine and Elvie Maki; and his precious grandson Tristan Smith. A service of remembrance for Joe Maki will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Eckville Community Centre with the Reverend Sandra Franklin-Law officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home Rocky Mountain Crematorium. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.
