Johanna (Ann) Mitchell
July 16, 1947 - November 21, 2019
72 years old
Ann passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, surrounded by family.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Barry Mitchell in 2015.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Rita Ray of Williams Lake, BC; her son Matthew Mitchell; her daughter Jennifer Stange; her son-in- law Grant Stange; and her wonderful granddaughters Claire and Eve Stange, all of Red Deer.
Ann was born in The Hague, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her family
in 1952. She met Barry in April 1964 and they remained completely devoted to each other until Barry's passing in 2015.
Together, they published the Alberta Fishing Guide magazine for 42 years. Ann was the Editor and wordsmith extraordinaire, taking Barry's ramblings and tangents about fishing and conservation and turning them into something concise and eloquent, while never losing his voice. If you knew Barry, you knew Ann was his rock and the center of his world.
The family is grateful for the care our mom, grandma, and sister received at Grey Nuns. In particular, we'd like to thank registered nurses Cindy, Marilyn, and Vanessa; and Dr. Shelley Duggan for their compassion during her final hours.
An informal memorial reception will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Eventide Funeral Home, 4820 45 Street, Red Deer, AB at 2 p.m.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Red Deer Food Bank.
