In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of John Albert Johansen at the age of 73 years. John was predeceased by his parents, wife Brenda, sister Grace, and brother David. John is survived by daughters Marcia (Kevin) Fraser, and Patty (Tim) Davis; grandchildren Matt, Brayden, and Dustin; and Godchild Angie Post.
John will be sadly missed by sisters Mary (Gerry) Britt, Betty Lund, Ruth Stewart, and Rita Jensen; brother Walter (Anna) Johansen; as well as many family members. John was born in Red Deer to Knud and Dorothy Johansen and was raised in the Poplar Ridge District. As a young man, he helped out on neighbouring farms and spent summers at his uncles' farms near Crimson Lake.
He started his long career in the trucking industry with Gow's Transport, then Grimshaw and eventually many years in Yellowknife with North Slave Freighter. John made many close friends while working for these companies. He and Brenda loved to camp and fish. John eventually returned to his roots in Poplar Ridge and to a farm where he lived with his sister Ruth.
John enjoyed afternoon card games, making new friends, and enjoying the kids who visited. His wonderful sense of humour entertained everyone around him, even as his health declined.... Roger, that! Over and out! Our family is very grateful for the wonderful care John received at the Red Deer Hospice.
