Our beloved father, grandpa, and great-grandpa John Buit passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021, at the age of 94 years, in Red Deer, Alberta.
John was born on August 28, 1926, in Ommen, The Netherlands, and was the third of four children born to Marten and Stientje Buit-Stolte.
He immigrated to Canada in March of 1948 on his own. In April 1951, he married Jean Ten Hove and together they raised their seven children, 2 daughters and 5 sons, on a dairy farm west of Blackfalds, in the Blindman valley area. Dad had a rich and full life, surrounded by loving family, a deeply rooted faith in God and the promise of eternal life.
Dad will lovingly be remembered by his children: Sharyn (Bob) Lodewyk, Harvey (Dorothy), Marvin (Marianne), Lawrence (Monica), Judith (Herb) Grutterink, and Russ (Judi). He was a special grandpa to 21 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, his youngest son Walter, and his grandson Brett Buit.
The family would like to extend their thankfulness to the staff at Sylvan Lake Lodge, Bethany Sylvan Lake and Points West Living for the kind, compassionate and gentle care that was shown to our Dad/Grandpa over the years.
