1941-2021 ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Duffy of Lacombe on June 6th after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79.
John was predeceased by his daughter Shauna, he is survived by his caring, loving wife Leona and his children, Lee Ann (Brent) and Terry (Karyn); grandchildren, Braeden (Sammy), Taryn (James), Liam, Meagyn (Justin), Ann, Jeremy, Jenna, and Ashlynn; and great granddaughter Oliviya.
Survived by his sisters, Shirley, Noell (Barry) and Lois (Wayne); brother-in-law Dallas (Lorraine); sister-in-law Linda; and son-in-law Kevin.
John was born and raised in the Lacombe area. John loved cars; he started his career as an automotive mechanic returning to school to achieve his Red Seal Certification. He transitioned to Heavy Duty mechanics and he worked for the County of Lacombe for 45 years, retiring at the age of 77.
His love of cars extended beyond his job, he raced stock cars in Central Alberta in his younger years and was the Central Alberta Champ a couple of times and Sportsman of the Year multiple times. He travelled to numerous car races and especially enjoyed sprint cars.
John was a loving family man who cared about everyone and everything. He enjoyed, camping, collecting and sightseeing driving tours. Anyone who knew John would describe him as hard working, honest, a perfectionist, particular and humble just to name a few.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private memorial service will be for the family only.
