John GUST

GUST, John John Gust of Bashaw, Alberta died peacefully at the age of 75 years following a faith-filled battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Martha (nee Schultz); children: Linda Lutz (Everley) of Kelowna, Bryan Gust (Terri) of Bashaw, Douglas Gust (Edana) of Airdrie, Dale Gust (Karen) of Bashaw and Tom Gust (Kathy) of Edmonton; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Scott, Ryan, Lisa, David, Lauren, Jennifer, Michael, Stephen; and great-granddaughter Courtney. He is survived also by his sisters Freida (Al) Kerik, Martha (Earl) Skjel, Hulda Shepherd and sister-in-law Rita Gust. John was born the second child of Gottlieb and Hulda Gust. He was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Ida and Emil Kitzman, brother-in-law Dave Shepherd and brother Gary. John was a Case and New Holland farm equipment dealer (Johnnyâs Service) in Bashaw from 1956 to 1989. He served on Bashaw town council for 25 years, 15 years as a councilor and 10 years as mayor. John also served as a member and president of the Battle River Tourist Association, a member of the board of directors of the Bethany Group Home of Camrose, a member of the Central Alberta Vintage Car Club, an executive committee member of the Case Heritage Foundation, chairman of the Bashaw and District Museum and a life-long member of the Zion-St. Peterâs Lutheran parish of Bashaw. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 8th, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church in Bashaw. Interment will follow in the St. Peterâs Lutheran Cemetery. Friends who so wish may make memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church, Bashaw, Alberta T0B 0H0, or to a charity of your choice. The family gratefully acknowledges the doctor and staff of the Bashaw Care Centre for their compassion and wonderful care.
