John Henry Patton "Jack" passed away on Tuesday December 1, 2009 at the age of 96 years. He was predeceased by his wife Hendrika Patton "Rika" (Koole) in 2005. Jack was born at Sudbury, Ontario. He moved to Alberta and grew up in the town of Coalhurst. At the age of 17 he hopped a train, "hobo style" and went back to Ontario where he worked in the mines of Sudbury. He later moved back to Alberta where he worked for Public Works building roads, then for the railroad. He married Rika on December 7, 1941. The day of Pearl Harbor. During the war he answered an add for a "Certified Diesel Electrical Engineer" and was hired to run the power plant, working in the P.O.W. Camp at Wainwright, Alberta. Jack was then hired by Calgary Power in 1944, which took him to Provost, Wetaskiwin and Innisfail where he settled as the district manager. He retired in 1979. Jack sat on Innisfail Town Council and was instrumental in the development of the Innisfail Golf Course. With respect for Jack's wishes, there will be no memorial service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alberta Children's Hospital, Calgary, Alberta.
