WEIBEL, Joseph Benjamin


Joseph Benjamin Weibel, 18, of Stettler AB, passed away in the early morning of December 19, 2016 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on his way to a job-site. He was born on Mother's Day, May 10, 1998 in Red Deer AB, the son of Ray and Miriam (VandenBrink) Weibel. He attended schools in Donalda and Stettler AB, and graduated from William E. Hay High School in 2015 where he was a member of the football team and a local lacrosse team. He was currently employed with Tundra Environmental & Geotechnical Drilling as a Driller's Assistant.

Big Joe, you leave deep, not to mention huge footprints (size 15!) from your 18 years on this earth. You were larger than life and though we need to weep our sudden loss, and take this long journey of grief, we know in our deepest hearts that you are safe, where no storm or pain or darkness can reach you …. and dear Joey, you are safe in our hearts, always.

Joey is forever cherished by his loving family: dad and mom Ray and Miriam of Stettler; brothers Michael (Hara) Pinette and nephew Nahum, Ezra, Josiah and Caleb of Red Deer, Brett VandenBrink (Lindsay) of Rocky Mountain House; sister Rachel Weibel and nephew Isaac of Stettler; grandmothers Lucy Ingram of Red Deer and Ethel VandenBrink of Red Deer; aunts and uncles: Susan (Doug) Turnbull, Tony VandenBrink, James VandenBrink, Cherylee Andersson, Donna Weibel, Dick (Colleen) Weibel, Linda Warnack, Judy (Art) Quiding, Val (David) Kinvig, Joanne (Dale) Kinvig, Pam (Terry) Herbert, Jim Weibel, Barb Weibel, Shelly (Pete) Haywood, Laurie (Geoff) Nelson, Dean (Sharon) Weibel, Teena (Glenn) Kuhn; over 100 cousins, extended family and many dear friends. Predeceased by his grandparents Joseph and Isabel Weibel, Max VandenBrink; uncle Paul Weibel and cousin Tracy Quiding.

Interment will take place at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Lake View Cemetery (50 Street and 38 Ave just south of Prairie Junction RV Park), Stettler, Alberta with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM in the Stettler Funeral Home 4707-70 Street, Stettler.
