On July 7, 2021, at the age of 102 years, Joe peacefully went to be with the Lord, surrounded and supported by his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nettie; 11 children: Lynda (Randy), Shane, Colleen (Bruce), Brian (Andrea), Terry (Charlene), Sharon (Larry), Helen (Alvin), Roger (Sandra), Carol (David), Lana (Brian), Mary (Steve); 31 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Joe had numerous experiences and passions: He was a farmer, loved nature and toiling on the land; Joe was a soldier and spent 5 years in WW2 fighting on behalf of our great Canada; Joe loved dancing with Nettie, they were a fixture at the Red Deer Legion on Wednesday nights; He was a poet who penned and published a book of poems; and published a book of his memoirs, both of which are a great legacy to his extended family; Joe loved the Canada Day family gatherings that took place at the farm campground.
Celebration of life service will be held July 14, 2021, at 1:00 pm at CrossRoads Church in Red Deer. If desired in-lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Red Deer branch of the Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of one's choice.
