It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Joseph James 'Jim' Ireland at the Centennial Centre, Ponoka, Alberta on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Jim was born in Millicent, Alberta in 1929 and moved to the Balmoral District of Red Deer with his parents in 1936, where he lived and farmed for more than 70 years. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Helen; two sons John (Allison) and Bob (Kim) and was predeceased by his son Donald in 2016. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren Tom (Whitney), Calvin, Joe, Jeff, Sarah, Addie, Tressie, great grandchildren Sam and Sadie and daughter-in-law Shelley.
The family wishes to acknowledge the care and attention given to Dad by Dr. Hopfner, the staff at Villa Marie Red Deer and the Centennial Centre, Ponoka.
A private family service will be held at Alto-Reste Cemetery at a later date. If desired, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Jim's honour may be made directly to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation at rdrhfoundation.com.
