In loving memory ~
Joyce Louise Short (Barr) Born May 15, 1937 passed away peacefully with loved ones by her bedside, December 18, 2023 at the age of 86, after a very sudden decline in her health. Predeceased by her husband William (Luigi) (2011) and daughter Gail (2018).
Joyce (Granny) will be fondly remembered by her remaining children: Gary Short (Bonnie), Marlene Curtis. Grandchildren: Jena Garcia (Bruce), Mike Short (Kim), Brian Short (Kristy), Ashten Curtis (Bryn), Jay Curtis (Kailee), Melissa Miller (Chad), Myranda Norem. Great Grandchildren: William Garcia, Hannah Short, Lucas Short, Hunter Short, Skyla Thomas, Brayden Norem, Saydee Miller. Extended family and friends: Kathy Barr, Fern Barr, Bonnie Lou Walker (Kevin) and many more.
Granny was a kind, loving and gentle soul. She was a strong woman who nurtured not only her three children, but three of her grandchildren (Jena, Michael and Brian). She enjoyed camping with her family out west each summer. Christmas light tours were a December family tradition. She also loved taking casino bus trips or a simple scenic road trip. For her 85th birthday she fulfilled a bucket list cruise to Alaska.
Throughout her lifetime she worked with her parents at the Barr Dance Hall, then with her husband at their restaurant Luigi's. She was a wonderful artist who painted canvas, milk cans, saw blades and murals for her family and friends.
Granny was most content to sit on her deck with her and William's dog Zeus, enjoying a cup of tea and watching the birds. Her beautiful smile, kind eyes and warm laugh will be remembered fondly by everyone.
At her request, there will be no service. In Lieu of flowers, if you desire, a contribution to the Red Deer Regional Hospital or charity of your choice can be made in her memory. The incredible staff at RDRH spoiled her with compassion and care during her final days.
We lost her and can't find her
