GILBERT Karanbelle (nee Antrim) July 4, 1927 - March 1, 2009 Karan Gilbert of Calgary passed away on Monday, March 1, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Her wit carried her, and us, right through to the end. The cancer took her body but not her spirit. Karan was born July 4, 1927 and was raised in the Rocky Mountain House / Red Deer area of Alberta. Karan had an excellent sense of humour and was an avid card player who enjoyed winning many crib and bridge tournaments. In her earlier years she enjoyed working on her golf game with friends and family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, aunt and friend. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by so many. Karan is survived by her son, Wayne (Victoria) Gilbert, and daughters, Clover (Garth) Slusar, Black Diamond, AB, and Gina Jarmain of Calgary, AB; as well as grandchildren Kari, Trevor, Zoe, Jonah, and Josh, one great-grandchild Mckayla, sister Audrey (Ted) Hancock, BC, and siblings, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Herb in 1987. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Chinook Hospice for their support and assistance in her last days, and the tireless staff of the Rockyview Hospital, as well as Karan's many friends at the Canyon Meadows Retirement Residence where she last lived in Calgary. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
