Karen Adriana Stetson, 33, went to be with her Saviour, Jesus, on August 18, 2014, after a long, courageous fight with cancer. Karen was born on January 9, 1981 in Calgary, Alberta to Wayne and Jean Pedersen. At a very young age, Karen gave her life to Jesus, and followed Him every day thereafter. She spent her childhood years in Calgary, Ontario and Didsbury. After graduating from Olds Koinonia Christian School in 1999, she moved to Red Deer to pursue hairdressing school. On May 5, 2001, Karen married her soul mate, Mark Stetson. She was busy as a sought-after hairstylist, accomplished interior decorator, and fantastic friend. She and Mark travelled often, especially to Maui, and Karen loved fashion, movies, music and her two dogs. Karen's cancer journey began March 28, 2013. She appreciated the care of excellent doctors and was especially grateful to the nurses of Unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at CrossRoads Church in Red Deer on August 26, 2014 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please be creatively generous to a person or organization of your choice, in Karen's name. Though she wasn't healed in the way we hoped, we know she is fully restored now, in the arms of the One who saved her, Jesus. And though the road ahead won't be easy for Mark and those who love Karen, we know we'll meet her again one day, thanks to His amazing grace.
