April 24, 1952 - April 4, 2025

It is with heartfelt sadness and yet a sense of relief that we announce the passing of Karon Elaine Beck (nee Kraushaar) on April 4, 2025. Sadness for losing a beloved wife, favourite aunt, loving sister/sister-in-law and caring friend; relief in that we know she is no longer struggling with the cruelty that comes at the hands of dementia.

Karon was born April 24,1952 in Melville, Saskatchewan to Freidrich and Wilhelmina Kraushaar. Growing up on a farm, with her 4 other siblings, was where her love for critters of all sizes was fostered and this love would continue into adulthood where she was known for saving and caring for bats, baby skunks and any other furry friend that needed a helping hand. Karon moved to Central Alberta in the early 70's and would later meet her soulmate Bruce in 1982 where they eventually settled down in Sylvan Lake. For 43 years, they shared a passion for music, love of travel and a shared political view of the world; there was rarely one without the other.

A true Saskatchewan farm girl, Karon was never scared of hard work and was always the first one to lend a hand. She and Bruce were regularly helping someone whether it was helping decorate and furnish a nephew's first home or helping a new Canadian adjust to life (and winter) in Sylvan Lake.

She was a talented organist starting as a youngster, a passionate wine maker, and fantastic cook. Her caring and energetic nature made her loved by many. She took great interest in the lives of many of her nieces and nephews and was always in the middle of the fun and chaos.

Predeceased by her parents, Freidrich (Fred) and Wilhelmina, her father-in-law Chester (Earl) Beck and her siblings, Lawrence and Myrna, her love and legacy lives on with her husband Bruce, her sister Eunice (David) Oelhaupl, her brother Orville (Marilyn), brothers and sisters in law: Dwayne and Deb, Daryl and Dina, Gloria, nieces and nephews both biological and adopted as well as numerous cherished cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 11 at 2:00 pm at Gaetz Memorial United Church in Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gaetz Memorial United Church- Memorial Fund or to Medicine River Wildlife Centre.
