DEEDRICK(Nee Williamson)

Kathleen Velores "Kay"

Oct. 27, 1928 - Sept.13, 2014

On Saturday September 13, 2014, Kathleen (Kay) Deedrick passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 85 years. Kay was born in Edmonton on October 27, 1928 and is predeceased by her parents, and her grandson Curtis Dulmadge. Left to cherish Kay's memory is her husband of 66 years, Dalton, daughter Linda (Ron) Dulmadge; sons Bruce Deedrick (Sandra Dahms), Brian Deedrick, and daughter Laurel (Julian) Mayne. Kay loved her 5 grandchildren: Isaac, Christopher, Curtis, Nicholas, and Sally, and 2 great grandchildren. Kay also leaves behind her sister, half sister, and numerous relatives and friends. In truth, Kay made friends everywhere she went, and did everything she could to improve the quality of life in her town of Lacombe. In addition to her husband and family, Kay dedicated her life to volunteer work including years at FCSS and Kozy Korner. She was a founding board member of Meals on Wheels and the local division of Alberta Housing Authority. She treated everyone with dignity and respect, a sense of humor and kindness. She was happiest when she could help make a difference in the lives of others. She was genuinely curious about people and loved just stopping to chat. Kay enjoyed all aspects of the 'high' life, flying with Dalton in the Cessna or Harvard, going to air shows around the province or further flung adventures from Mexico to Alaska. She made more airplane picnics than you can imagine and, as in life itself, she buttered her bread to the edges. Her creative spirit was evident in her paintings, from oils and acrylics, fun embellishment of the fire hydrant in the front yard and the most spectacular Halloween costumes. She collected every recyclable object imaginable for 'Lady Mary's' art classes at the library. She loved all people, young and old, and everyone in between. Give her an idea and she'd make a project. Give her a project and she'd run with it. She will be missed. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 5226-51 Ave., Lacombe, Ab. on Friday, September 19th, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. If friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made by visiting www.wilsonsfuneralchapel.ca.
