MAPLETOFT

Kathleen Lillian Mapletoft of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on April 25, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Medicine Hat to parents Alex and Jenny Chomik who later moved to a farm a few miles away from Strome, AB where she lived with her brother Dave and sister Elsie. Later, Kathy moved to Red Deer where she met her best friend of over 50 years, Dorothy, and her husband of 52 years Ron Mapletoft. Together, Ron and Kathy made their home in Red Deer where she worked in the retail industry until her retirement. They have one son, Darcy and are very loving parents. Kathy was hard working, kind, and gentle. She loved gardening, her home, and most of all her family. Her greatest day was when she became a grandmother to Jocelyn. She will be missed very much by all who know her. She is survived by her husband, Ron Mapletoft; brother Dave Chomik; sister Elsie Bateyko; son and daughter-in-law Darcy and Beth Mapletoft; and granddaughter Jocelyn Mapletoft. Services will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church at 4929 - 54th Street, Red Deer on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to donor's favourite charity.
