Ken Baskier, much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the age of 81 years. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Betty; his sons, Terry (Donna) and Greg (Tammy); his daughter Wendy (Jeff); six much loved grandchildren, Jason and Michelle Baskier, Rachel, Nicole and Brian Baskier, and Jodie (Ryan) Genest; also great-grandsons, Randall and Carter Genest; his brother Don (Illona) and their family; as well as many extended family and close friends. Ken lived life to the fullest working in farming, road construction, and for over 45 years in the Oil & Gas Industry in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. In later years, he enjoyed small engine repair and working in his yard. Words can’t express how greatly he will be missed and how much he was loved but we are thankful he is now at peace. A Memorial Service will be held at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations in Ken’s honour may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5 or to Epilepsy Canada, 2255B Queen St. E, Suite 336, Toronto, ON, M4E 1G3.
