Mr. Kenneth Ing died peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the age of 93 years. Ken was born in New Westminster, British Columbia on July 23, 1929, and was raised in Carstairs, Alberta on the family farm.
Ken had a love for many sports. He played goalie in hockey, catcher in baseball and was an avid golfer. Working in the hardware business, Ken moved to Red Deer in 1952. In 1955 he changed vocations to the insurance business which ultimately resulted in him becoming the co-founder of Ing & McKee Insurance.
Over the years, he served on many not-for-profit boards and was also a member of the Masonic Order. He was President of the Rotary Club of Red Deer, as well as, the District Governor of Rotary. He truly believed in the moto of the Rotary Club "Service above Self".
Music was a big part of his life. For many years he was a member of the Red Deer Community Band, Red Deer Symphonic Winds and until just recently he played his tuba in the Golden Music Makers.
Ken was well known for his commitment to his family, his community, and his church. Ken was a kind, gentle man of humility and integrity. Ken will be greatly missed by his family; Jan (Kevin), Judy (Jim) and Gord, as well as his grandchildren; Matt, Sarah, Spencer, Jayson, Mark, Chloe, Anna and his five great grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his brother, Bruce (Joyce) and his sisters, Elva and Linda (Gerry).
Ken was predeceased by his brother Cyril, and his wife of sixty-one years, Donna in 2015.
A celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 - 50 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Friday, August 19th at 1:00 p.m.
