PREECE, Kenneth

May 4, 1925 - Jan. 1, 2018

Kenneth Preece of Caroline, AB passed away January 1, 2018 at the Sundre Hospital at the age of 92.

Ken was born May 4th, 1925 in Delia, AB to parents Horace and Constance.

He was predeceased by his wife Marie (2005), both parents, brother Cliff, and sisters Gladys and Norma.

Ken joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1943 and spent the duration of WW11 aboard Canadian warships. After the war, he worked seismograph in Northern Alberta, but left that industry in 1949 when he married Marie Lupul and remustered to the Royal Canadian Air Force. He spent some 20 years as a master mechanic, retiring as a Sergeant in 1969, and then continued his government service working as a civilian power engineer until 1979.

In 1982, they moved to a ranch at Caroline, where he farmed until moving back to Red Deer in 1996. After a couple of years in town, they moved to a 40 acre hobby farm on the city limits where Ken stayed until 2015 when he purchased an idyllic quarter section on the Raven River at Caroline. He spent his last years there, raising his sheep and goats and as he put it "being in his heaven".

He is survived by his four children, Rick (Eufemia), Randy (Judy), Cathy McQuiston (Grant), and Carlie McDowell (Terry) as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Rocky Home Care, West Country Family Services, the MEL Society, the doctors and nursing staff at the Sundre Hospital, and finally the friends and family who made Ken's last days as comfortable as possible. Any donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Nazarene (4803 - 50 Street, Caroline, AB) on January 10, 2018 at 2 p.m.
