KILDARE Kib Kildare (born Sidney Charles) A well-known figure in the Central Alberta theatrical world, Kib Kildare passed away at Bethany Collegeside, Red Deer on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 surrounded by loved ones and admirers. Kib appeared onstage in numerous comedic roles with Central Alberta Theatre and often worked behind the scenes as a director. He also acted in films and television commercials shot locally. Kib recalled many facets of his life in three books he published while living in Red Deer. Born on July 18, 1925 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, Kib wrote of his childhood inquisitiveness in Bridge of Thighs and his coming of age in the Second World War as a member of a British Army reconnaissance unit in Beyond the Dreams of Alice. His third book, The Man on the Other Side told of meetings with a mysterious German encountered in Kib's career as a salesman in postwar England. Kib was predeceased by his first wife, Daphne and leaves to mourn his passing, daughter Lynn of Winnipeg and her family, son Michael of Maidenhead, United Kingdom, and his family, brother Jack of Maidenhead, U.K., Kib's companion and stage partner Barbara More of Red Deer and her family, as well as his many fellow actors and theatrical colleagues. A celebration of Kib's life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Andrew Burnand officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, Suite #101, 4805 - 48 Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4N 3T2. In living memory of Mr. Kib Kildare, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park and a tree will be planted in the garden at Benhaven, in Benalto, Alberta.
