KLASSEN, Mrs. Helena ‘Helen’ Klassen of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the age of 98 years. Helen was born on January 8, 1907 at Langham, Saskatchewan. Helen was a loving, kind and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who cherished her family with all her heart. She was especially proud of her many great and great great grandchildren. Helen took great pride in being a wonderful homemaker and her tasty and delicious cooking was well known by all who knew her. Her culinary talents were absolutely excellent and family and friends always looked very forward to enjoying her amazing home cooked meals. Helen was also very creative and loved crocheting and knitting wonderful items for her family to enjoy. Her flower gardens were just beautiful during the summer months and not only did Helen keep a very lovely home but her yard was also very spectacular and a delight for others to enjoy. Helen was a truly beautiful and special lady who will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and many dear friends. Helen leaves to mourn her loss, her loving children, Sadie Schultz of Red Deer, Nettie (Joe) Young of Joffre, Alberta, Laura (Albert) Young, also of Red Deer, Helen (Jack) Klassen of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jake (Grace) Klassen of Burnaby, British Columbia, Garry Klassen of Port Moody, British Columbia, thirty-two grandchildren, seventy-two great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents, thirteen brothers and sisters, her beloved husband, Jacob John Klassen on December 25, 1991, a son, Dennis David Klassen on November 16, 1955, a great grandson, Derrick Allyn Schultz on October 12, 1988 and a son-in-law, Dave Schultz. A Public Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 – 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
