SOMMER Knud Greve Sommer of Ponoka, Alberta passed away on May 13, 2005. Knud was born in Harridslev, Denmark November 6, 1943. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1957 at the age of 13. Knud had a strong work ethic as a young man and rapidly established himself in the constructions industry. He was a very energetic entrepreneur and a community minded individual. He spear headed major projects for the Kinsmen, The Stampede Association and served on Town Council. Knud is survived by his mother Karen Sommer; wife, Lil Sommer; daughters, Sherri Sommer Candelario (Leo, Taylor, Lauren and Allison), Kristi Hinkley (Mark, Cheyanne and Blake), and Leann Sommer (Scott, Brielle and Kierra); brother, Egon (Norma); sisters, Vera (Scott), Olga (Mike), Kristen (Knud), Tove (Mac) and extended family. A Funeral service will be held at the Ponoka United Church (5020-52 Ave.) on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial tributes may be made in Knud's name to the Ponoka Palliative Care Unit or the Cross Cancer Institute.
