KOLASA 1930- 2008 Dave (Dmytro) Kolasa, beloved husband of Olga Kolasa of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Dave is survived by six children and eleven grandchildren, Lynn Clements (Leon) of Huston, Texas, Douglas (Sharon) and their son Brett of Calgary, Richard (Shauna) and daughters Lindsay and Morgan of Calgary; Carol Watson (Andrew) and daughters Kalynna, Natalya, Julija and Lyvia of Red Deer, Lorie Ashworth (Erik) and daughters Claire and Erika of Grande Prairie and David (Leeann) and daughter Jillian and son Steven of Red Deer. Born and raised in Thorhild, Alberta, Dave was the youngest of seven children. He is predeceased by his sister, Marie Osinchuk and brothers, Billy and Peter. He is survived by sisters, Ann Stroich of Edmonton, Helen Evaniew and Hazel Walkut of Calgary. In addition to a 55 year marriage and raising a family, Dave's life is marked by many accomplishments. He began his 35 year teaching career in a one room school house in Thorhild, Alberta and taught in Delburne, Innisfail and Red Deer before retiring from Lindsay Thurber Composite High School at the age of 55. Dave will also be remembered for his extensive community involvement, including service as State Deputy for the Knights of Columbus from 1993-1995. He was most proud of his role in the establishment of Red Deer's St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church, where the family remains active members. Dave was also a trustee for the Red Deer Separate School district and a member of St. Mary's Parish Council. He also participated for many years in local Barbershop Quartets. A Prayer Service will be held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3932-46 Street, Red Deer on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508-48A Avenue, Red Deer on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer.
