LACHANCE

August 5, 2006

LACHANCE, 1943 - 2006 Joan Marie LaChance of Red Deer, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the age of 63 years. Joan was born on July 24, 1943 at Lindale, Alberta. Joan was a kind and independent woman who cherished her family. Her legacy was her great strength and determination in the face of life’s challenges, including a brain injury she suffered over thirty years ago, which she managed with dignity, grace and unfaltering grit. She was always up for a sometimes feisty game of Scrabble or Yahtze, a coffee and a visit. With her family at her side through her final trial, she can now rest peacefully knowing she was much loved. Joan is lovingly survived by her sons, Dwayne Mayr (Laurie) of Pigeon Lake, Kerry Mayr of Warburg, Jerry Campbell (Angela) of Red Deer and daughter, Michelle Mayr (Mary-Ann) of Red Deer, her grandchildren, Lantz, Mike, Derek, Amy, Tara, Ashley, Jason, Jordan and Riley and her great grandchildren, Davin, Nykala, Austin and Hayley. She will also be sadly missed by her brothers, Bert, John and Don, sisters, Mary, Betty and Theresa and her special friends, Amy, Jeanne and Linda. Joan was predeceased by an infant daughter, Darcy Marie Mayr and a son, Darren Mayr. A Public Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 – 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
