DOWNEY Laura Elaine 1934 - 2009 Elaine passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday January 10, 2009 after a brief illness. Elaine was born on December 1, 1934 in Regina, Saskatchewan, the only child of Griffith and Arabel Humphreys. Elaine came to Calgary in 1949 where she attended Crescent Heights High School and graduated from Mount Royal College. It was here that Elaine met Frank Downey and they married May 1, 1954. Elaine is survived by her husband Frank, 5 children, Glenn (Jane), Lloyd, Joyce, Neil and Diane (Neville Giberson) and 9 grandchildren, Stephen, John, Pamela, Doug, Chris, Kaitlyn, Shane, Laura and Sean. A gathering to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Monday, February 16th, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Kensington Royal Canadian Legion - 1910 Kensington Road N.W. Calgary, Alberta.
