Leo John Franken of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the age of 76 years. For Leo, spending time with family and friends was first and foremost. Family, friends, hunting, camping and fishing were all highlights of his life. Leo enjoyed the outdoors and even more so when spent with those he loved and cared about. Those who knew Leo will always remember him for his incredible sense of humor that so often brought smiles to those around him. Leo's family will be forever grateful to the many friends and especially to the nurses, doctors and staff of Unit 31 of the Red Deer Hospital. Your care, compassion and kindness shown not only to Leo but also to his family will be forever appreciated. Leo will be forever remembered by his loving wife Lorna; sons Jim (Sweda), Rick (Tracey); grandchildren Jessica, Shawn, Luvina; sister Jeanne (Kazmer); aunts Jean and Ev as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and great friends. He was predeceased by his parents and uncle Kees. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 - McMillan Ave, Red Deer, AB on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, (Unit 31 - RDRHC), 3942 - 50 A Ave, Red Deer AB T4N 4E7 Condolences to Leo's family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
