November 26, 2008

MUENCH, Leo Phillip Our family rejoices in the achievement of eternal peace of our beloved, father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather at the age of 79. He left us on Nov. 22, 2008 at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre and will be interred on Nov. 27, in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife Connie, daughters, Debbie (Ian) Orum, Karen (Gord) Mayenburg, grandchildren, Joseph Leo, Gina Marie, Sherry Marie, Ricky, Michael, Katy Karalyn and great grandchildren, Dominic Trevor, Evie Mariela, Cora Anne and predeceased by his parents Angela and Leo and one granddaughter Jacilyn Dawn. He was born on the farm in Muenster, Sask. on April 23, 1929 and attended the country School of Veronica to grade 9. Leo started his working career as a harvester in Star City then went to a lumber camp in B.C. for a number of years, took a welding course in Edmonton and worked as a welder in Humboldt, Sask. It was there he met his wife. They married in 1953 and lived in Flin Flon Manitoba where he worked for HBM&S mining. In 1963 they moved back to Humboldt where he owned a number of feed businesses till 1969 when he sold them and became a real estate agent. During this period he acquired his pilots license. In 1970 the family moved to Lacombe, AB where Leo became a Farm Supply Supervisor and worked for Pioneer Grain till his retirement in 1991. In 1993 he took a job with Thompson Camps out of Otter Lake Sask. running a fly-in fishing camp which was his dream job that he and Connie really enjoyed for the next 13 years. In the winter months he did Meals on Wheels, drove as a volunteer driver for the Golden Circle and joined COPS (citizens on patrol) in Red Deer till his decline in early 2007. Leos' best advice to anyone that asked, "If you think it's worth doing, do it well" which might explain his "luck" at his favorite game, cribbage. The family would like to thank the friends, relatives and the people who knew him for their kind expressions of sympathy and fond memories at this time of our loss. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Continuing Care Centre in Lacombe at Lacombe Hospital & Care Centre, 5430-47 th Ave. Lacombe, AB T4L 1G8 or the charity of the donors choice.
