SPECHT

Leonhard Wilhelm

Leonhard Wilhelm Specht, Sr. passed away peacefully in Lacombe on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Höxter, Germany on July 10, 1942 to Karl and Elisabeth Specht. He was married to Annette Köster in January of 1970 and received his Master's Degree in Engineering from the University of Hannover later that year. In 1981, Leo and his family immigrated to Canada and settled near Lacombe, Alberta, where he spent the rest of his life as a proud and successful farmer. His first care was always his family; especially his grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Annette Specht; his mother-in-law Elisabeth Köster; his siblings, Magdalene Wiesemann, Agathe Specht, Hildegard Specht, Ewald Specht, Elisabeth Risse, and Bernhard Specht; and his children, Leonhard (Miranda) Specht, Julia (Adrien) Rouget, Elisabeth Specht, Katharina Specht and Carmen Specht; and his beloved grandchildren, Karl Specht, Grace Specht, Sophia Rouget, Stephan Rouget, and Amelie Rouget. He is predeceased by his parents, Karl and Elisabeth Specht, and his siblings, Karl Specht, Wigbert Specht and Maria Specht. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 5128 53 Street, Lacombe, AB, on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus, Chapter #8969.
