Lillian CAMPHAUG

September 7, 2006

CAMPHAUG Lillian (Lilo) Maude It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian (Lilo) Maude Camphaug on September 1, 2006. She passed away in her home with loved ones at the age of 86. Lillian (known as Lilo as a child in England) was a ‘war bride’ and came to Canada after the war in the late 1940’s. Her first two children, Barry and Fay were born in England and she had six more children in Canada: Tony, Rodney, Cy, Rene, Kurt and Syndi. Lillian moved to Churchill, MB in 1960. It was during her time in the North that she fell in love with the Inuit culture and their traditional ways. She worked in the Receiving Center in Akudlik (an Inuit village near Churchill) and after 15 years, left for warmer climates. She lived for quite a time in Winnipeg and moved to Sylvan Lake in 2001. After the passing of her No.1 son, Barry (a long time Sylvan resident), a couple of years ago, she moved to Calgary to spend the ‘winter’ of her life, was very happy at the Aspen Lodge and made many friendships there. Services will be held at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home, 5019 - 47A Ave on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 1:00 pm Arrangements entrusted to Leyden’s Funeral Home, Reception and Cremation Centre.
