Linda's journey took its last steps with us Tuesday, May 29, as she peacefully left behind the thoughtful care of the Southwood Hospice at the age of 84 years.
Linda started her journey in London, UK, the only daughter of Winnifred and Patrick William Wootten. Her early steps took her across the Atlantic Ocean so often, she fittingly met and married the love of her life, John C. MacAulay, on the Mid-Atlantic isle of Bermuda. Her journey with John took her across the Atlantic several more times, raising children, pets and gardens along the way, before coming to Montreal, QC, in 1971 and Red Deer, AB, in 1977.
In Alberta, Linda's energy and sense of duty to her family grew to encompass church and community. She volunteered with the Sacred Heart Parish, Red Deer, Bowness Seniors' Centre, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Calgary. Always walking forward, when John passed away in 1997, Linda built a business around the other love of her life, animals, when she started the Alpine View Pet Spa near Strathmore.
Linda's journey here is carried on by her five children and their families, Catriona (Dan Ward), Iain Alasdair (Sy-Shi Wang), Moragh (James Barmby), Fiona Seguin (Ernest), and Hamish (Marcia Clark); her grandchildren (Catriona) Euan, David, Anne Mhairi, (Alasdair) Donal, Benetta, (Moragh) Peter, Anna, Jack, (Fiona) Dominique and husband Stephen Devries, Antoine and wife Laura, Marcel and wife Abigail, Andre, Pascal, Jean Pierre, Guy, Angelique, and (Hamish) Aidan, Adeline, Iain; and great-grandchildren (Dominique) Maxin, Theo, Luc, (Antoine) Isabelle, Josephine, Vivienne, and (David) Brock; as well as her brother Ben Wootten (Micca) of Blue Hill, Maine.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church (7624 - 39th Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
