In loving memory ~
1931 - 2024
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father Lionel Sol Lustgarten on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 93 years.
Lionel earned his Law Degree from McGill University, was a Professor of Business Law at Vanier College, was the owner of Spectrum Packaging, and was a published author, to name but a few of his professional accomplishments. He was a dedicated volunteer and was thrilled to receive an award for his work with the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan, Ontario, and enjoyed being a part of the Prescott Players there.
Once in Red Deer, Lionel was proud to serve his community in places that included the Red Deer Public Library, Reader's Theatre, Red Deer Museum, Red Deer Players, and more. Most recently, as well as teaching a community Italian Language Class, he was honored to volunteer his time with a newcomer, Eugene, helping him to make Canada home. Because this is who Lionel was... a kind, generous, intelligent man with a heart that never stopped giving. 'Dad', 'Zaidie', 'Grandpa', 'Lionel' - you will be deeply missed by so many.
Lionel will be lovingly remembered by his loving daughters, Marlene Robertson, (Mike), and Sharon Bouchard (Peter), both of Red Deer Alberta, Barbara Evoy (Don) of Fergus Ontario, Sandi Jackson (Ross) of Calgary, Alberta, and Judy Paulauskas (Pete) of Kitchener, Ontario, and will be remembered as being an outstanding grandfather to his thirteen grandchildren, and his fourteen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Susan; two grandchildren; and his cherished son, David, in 2022.
There will be no service at this time, but if desired, Memorial Donations in Lionel's' honor may be made directly to Friends of the Red Deer Public Library at www.rdpl.org, Red Deer Museum Art Gallery at www.reddeermuseum.com, Glengarry Pioneer Museum at www.glengarrypioneermuseum.ca, or McGill Law Faculty Library at www.mcgill.ca.
