SHURMER (CLEVELAND)

Lois Alma of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on May 4, 2014 at the age of 83. Lois was born September 10, 1930 to Grover and Gunda Cleveland in Camrose, Alberta. She was the youngest of four children and was predeceased by her sisters Eleanor and Jeanie, her brother Norman and her parents Grover and Gunda. Lois met her husband of 57 years Gerald at a dance in 1954 and they were married in 1956 in Camrose, Alberta. Lois and Gerald had two wonderful daughters, Barbara (Jezzat) and Linda (Niels, Elysia, and Kyle). Gerald worked in the oil field and worked abroad during the early years of their family life and they spent time in Libya and Venezuela. Lois was an avid golfer and passed her love of the game on to her son-in-law Niels and her grandchildren Elysia and Kyle. Lois also had a love for card games and many a family functions were spent playing games together. Lois was an amazing cook and loved nothing more than cooking a wonderful meal for family and friends. This love along with many recipes has been passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. Lois leaves behind numerous family members and friends to celebrate her life. A celebration of Lois' life will be held on May 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Red Deer Legion.
